Blanche Abbie Shackford, the daughter of Luther L and Miranda (Houghton) Shackford) was born on May 17, 1875 in Lyndon, Vermont. In 1880 she lived with her parents and brother Willie in Concord, Vermont where her father worked as a harnessmaker. At that age of 7 she was listed in the newspaper among other students who had neither absent or tardy marks while her brother was listed with one absence. Four years later she lost her brother to diptheria.
Blanche continued to live with her parents in Concord until age 27 when on March 11, 1903 she married 22 year old Jethro Lillicrap, a stone cutter who had been born in England. Shortly after their marriage he headed to Hardwick to work in the quarries.
Blanche and her husband appear frequently in the Vermont newspapers attending weddings of friends and families, family events, and funerals. In 1910 they were in Concord with their two sons Paul and William and Blanche’s mother Miranda. The family was enumerated in the 1920 census in Concord.
Sadly Jethro died on November 14, 1922 at the age of 42. His life is described in this obituary published in The Caledonian-Record on Nov 21, 1922.

Death of Jethro Lillicrap
A gloom was cast over the com-
munity when it was known that
Jethro Lillicrap has passed away
at his home here, Tuesday after-
noon, Nov. 14. He had been ill
and a great sufferer for many
months, all that professional skill
could do proved of no avail, he
failed rapidly the last few days
until the end.
Mr. Lillicrap was born in Corn-
wall, England, June 3, 1880, son
of John and Hannah Rex Lillicrap.
He was one of a family of 11 chil-
dren, and is survived by four
brothers, Fred Lillicrap, Warsaw,
Wis., William Lillicrap, Philadel-
phia, Penn, Emanuel and Harry
Lillicrap of this town. The fam-
ily came to America when Mr. Lil-
licrap was 11 years old. He re-
ceived his education in the public
schools at Quincy, Mass., and after
spending a year in Harwick, this
state, he came to Concord in 1900
where he has since worked at this
occupation a a granite manufac-
turer.
March 11, 1903 he was married
to Blanche A. Shackford of this
town who with two sons, Paul
Jethro and William Houghton are
left to mourn the loss of a devoted
husband and father. He is also
survived by several nephews and
nieces. Mr. Lillicrap was a mem-
ber of the B. P. O. Elks, St.
Johnsbury, a large delegation
from this order attended the fun-
eral. He was also a member of
the U. C. T. of that place. The
funeral was held from the home
Friday at 11 o’clock, Rev. ZC. F.
McIntyre, pastor of the Universa-
list church officiating. The in-
ternment was in Lyndon cemetery.

Blanche lived with her mother in St Johnsbury in 1930 where she worked as a private housekeeper and her two sons worked a traveling salesmen and returned to Concord where she and her mother lived together. Her mother died in 1942 and Blanche died on July 12, 1946 at the age of 71 of cancer of the colon. She was buried next to her husband in the Lyndon Center Cemetery in Lyndon, Vermont.

Paul Jethro Lillicrap (1904-1994) – lived in St Johnsbury, Vermont, married Eva Henrietta Beaulieu.
William Houghton Lillicrap (1908-1994) – lived in Newport, Vermont, married Marguerite Italia McGill.
