Obituary Charles Corliss Shackford 1937 Newburyport Daily News and Newburyport Herald (Newburyport, Massachusetts), 24 February 1937
Newburyport Daily News and Newburyport Herald, 24 February 1937

Funeral services were held yester-
day at 2 o’clock for Charles Corliss
Shackford, Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Corliss Shackford at their
home, 217 Boston avenue, Medford.
He was born in Newburyport and was
26 years of age. Besides his parents
he leaves a wife, Pauline; a sister
Mrs Ruth Holstrom of Worcester, a
brother Robert and other relatives.
Committal services were held in Law-
rence.

Although Charles Corliss Shackford’s obituary states he was born in Newburyport, his birth record reflects that the son of Charles Corliss and Florence (Hey) Shackford  was born April 25, 1910 at 76 Tremont St in Lawrence, Massachusetts which was the home of Frances’ parents.  Interestingly he is listed as the NoName Son, age 0/12 on the 1910 Census at 46 Bromfield St in Newburyport, Massachusetts which is dated 18 April indicating that the census was probably taken a few days after April 15th.

In 1920 nine-year old Charles was in Philadelphia with his family where his father was working as a lumber inspector and in 1930 twenty year old Charles living with his parents and working as a clerk for a furrier.  In 1936 he married Pauline Grace McNaught and sadly died shortly thereafter at the age of 26 on February 10, 1937.  He was buried at the Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
