A very pretty wedding occurred
yesterday afternoon in Lawrence
when Miss Florence Hey, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Walton Hey, and Cor-
liss C. Shackford, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Charles H. Shackford of this city
were united in marriage.
The ceremony was performed by
Rev. Frank D Smith at his home of
the bride, 76 Tremont street amidst
about 100 guests. The wedding party
was formed upstairs and marched
down into the parlor where the cere-
monytook place to the strains of the
wedding march from Lengrin On
leaving the parlor Mendelsson’s wed-
ding march was played Professor
Harld P Gaunt presided at the or-
gan The room was artificially dec-
orated with ferns, potted plants and
cut flowers by Thornjon brothers of
Lawrence
Miss Sadie Brown was bridesmaid
and Earl Forster Filmore of this city
acted as best man
The bride was prettily attired in a
beautiful white silk gown trimmed
with valenciennes lace and baby rib-
bons and she carried bride roses The
bridesmaid wore a pretty pale blue
silk gown with lace trimmings and
carried boquet.
After the ceremony a reception was
held and was followed by a bounteous
wedding repast The remainder of the
evening was passed in enjoyment and
an excellent musical programme was
carried out.
The young couple received many
useful and valuable presents, includ-
ing furniture, cut glass, silverware,
table linen and chinaware.
Mr. and Mrs. Shackford left on the
9 32 train for a two weeks’ honey-
moon. They were followed to the de-
pot by a large number of the guests
and were given a royal sendoff. Con-
fetti and rice were showered upn
them and they left with the best
wishes of a host of friends. On their
return they will reside at 12 Allen
street, this city, and they will be at
home to friends after December 1.

                            Charles Corliss Shackford (1882-1947)

Charles Corliss Shackford, the son of Charles Henry and Clara Eva (Burke) Shackford was born on Sept 28, 1882 in Newburyport, Massachusetts where he was living in 1900 with his parents and sister Grace.  On October 22, 1907 he married Florence Janet Hey, the daughter of John and Mary Nelson (Sayward) Burke.  He worked as a lumber inspector, a lumber foreman in Philadelphia, and in Medford.  Charles died on November 17, 1947 in Medford and was buried in the Bellevue Cemetery.

Charles Corliss Shackford, Jr (1910-1937) – married Pauline

Robert Walton Shackford (1918-1987) – aeronautical engineer, WWII ace, married Mary J Gibbons, Margaret Helena Capitanich, and Joan.
