Conductor, Passes
Alonzo Shackford, 67, freight
conductor for the Southern Pacific
railroad for more than 25 years,
died Wednesday at San Bernardino
Community hospital.
Mr. Shackford was a native of
Boston, Mass., and had resided in
San Bernardino 30 years, making
his home at 1429 Rialto avenue.
He is survived by his widow,
Margaret, of San Bernardino; a
son, George Shackford, of Boston,
and one granddaughter. He was
a member of the Masonic lodge
and the Shrine.
Funeral services will be held at
2 p.m. Monday at Mark B. Shaw
Memorial chapel with a Masonic
lodge officiating. Interment will
follow in Mountain View Cemetery.

Alonzo’s son was George is George Crosby Shackford (1903-1998) by Alonzo’s first wife and Margaret, his second wife is Margaret H Barber (1870-1952).  We’re researching some resources pertaining to Alonzo’s WWI service which we’ll share at a later date.
