Sunday’s Obituary – Curtis Arthur Shackford (1911-1928) (Blog 398)

Curtis Arthur Shackford was born in Utica, New York on July 12, 1911 to Arthur William and Ethel (Irving) Shackford. We find him in the 1920 census at age 8 with his parents and his sister Florence and read about his death due to scarlet fever in the Nov 24, 1928 Utica Press. From Curtis’ death notice we learn that he attended public schools, the Utica Free Academy, attended the Memorial church of the Holy Cross and was active in the Boy Scouts.  We also learn that his sister Florence, married a Mr. Painter.

Curtis was buried in the New Forest Cemetery in Utica, New York.
