Sympathy Saturday – Beulah May Shackford (1916-1917) (Blog 443)

Beulah May Shackford, the daughter of Eugene Dellmont and Eva Mabel (Flood) Shackford was born August 26, 1916 in Springvale, Maine.

Sadly, she died a little over a year later on December 5, 1917 of convulsions.  Little Beulah May’s death was reported in the newspaper as follows:

Death Notice Beulah May Shackford The Springvale Advocate (Springvale, Maine), 7 December 1917
The Springvale Advocate,    7 Dec 1917

Beulah May, the infant daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene D. Shackford of Mousam street passed away Wednesday after a few days illness aged one year four months and six days.
The funeral will be held this afternoon from the late home Rev. W. S. Coleman of the Free Baptist church, officiating.

Tragically, Eugene and Eva Mabel lost a second child, Eugene F Shackford a year later on November 3, 1918.

Sympathy Saturday – Eugene F Shackford (1918-1918) (Blog 409)

Eugene F Shackford, the son of Eugene Dellmont and Eva Mable (Flood) Shackford was born Oct 18, 1918 in Springvale, Maine.  He only lived for 15 days and died on Nov 3 1918 in Springvale.  His death record states his cause of death was asphyxia with a contributing cause of gastritis with vomiting.

Eugene was buried on Nov 5, 1918 in the Hope Cemetery in Kennebunk, Maine.

This was the second child that this family lost  — their daughter Beulah May who was just a year old died  on Dec 5, 1917.  We hope this small blog helps memorialize these young children.
